Night walking

I found her song on the floor, by my bed
a creased little note with words
she never said
She wrote
This is a song about the rats
the gold and silver fishes
the frog that’s half dead
and the rainbow cats

She sang
You ask me if I don’t love you no more
I said I just love myself less when you leave me
She sang
Baby lets go night walking, night talking
lets pretend that we are free

I sat with her song, on the floor by the bed
a creased little tune with words she never said
She wrote
This is a song about the talking cherry tree
the two little fat dogs
the white ghost horse
and the smoking bumblebee

I call her up
and ask her if she don’t love me no more
She says I just love myself less when you leave me
I sing:
Baby lets go night walking, night talking
lets pretend that we are free

She sings
baby go ride your white ghost horse
I’ll be here night walking
cherry tree talking
where fat dogs are barking
bumblebees sparkling
look for gold and silver fishes
a half dead frog
a rat and a cat

She says
You ask me if I don’t love you no more
I'll say I love myself more when you need me
I'll sing baby let’s go night walking night talking
now I know that we are free
